This
innovative action, with its intelligent use of ABS-Carbon and other
composite materials, outperforms traditional "all wooden" actions in
terms of reliability, durability and long-term consistency of touch. Created by the infusion of carbon into our existing ABS-Styran composite, the strength and rigidity of ABS-Carbon allow Kawai to to make our action parts lighter - and therefore faster - as well as stronger and less prone to atmospheric fluctuations than wooden parts.
"SOFTFALL" FALLBOARD
Our
gentle Softfall fallboard closing system with dual-damping
mechanism protects hands and the piano's finish from the harm that a
jarring close might cause.
ADJUSTABLE MUSIC DESK
The music
desk is adjustable for viewing distance (forward and backward) and
viewing angle (three positions) to suit the needs of the pianist.

Kawai wood
technologists select only the finest woods for use in our exceptional
instruments. The soundboard of the GM12 is made of solid quarter-sawn
spruce that is carefully chosen and tested to exceed Kawai's demanding
resonance standards, for superior tone.
