Moving to the Sunshine Coast for us was a bit late. We had just sold our business in Sydney. 26% wanted to find a place where we could move and raise our children that wasn't as busy as Sydney had been. So, we flew to Coolangatta, rented a car and started driving.
First we looked at the tweed heads and, although pretty, it wasn't exactly what we wanted. So we drove along the coast looking everywhere. We spent a few days in Manly, some also in Redcliffe, and then we headed north. Later, we stopped in Buderim and it was the first suburb that caught our attention, mainly because it was very green, full of trees and, being a mountain, it had hills that changed the landscape a little.
After that, we drove along Buderim Avenue, which takes you directly to the ocean. At the time we had no idea that we were now in Mooloolaba. Looking at the water I thought, “Wow, we should move here”. So we rented an apartment for a week in North Cliff, in Maroochydore, because that's where the tourist information center suggested, and within a week we bought a house in Buderim.
We didn't even look at any other suburbs. I didn't know anything about Caloundra or any other suburb other than Maroochydore, Buderim and Mooloolaba. You just have to drive to see all the development that is taking place. You can read more about this in my detailed article here.
